Notice of Proposed Amendments to CMBC Bylaws

On April 26, 2018 the Board of the College of Midwives of British Columbia (CMBC) approved amendments to CMBC Bylaws: Proposed Amendments

These amendments as set out in the redline version are subject to the notice requirements under section 19 (6.2) of the Health Professions Act. Notice to the public is hereby provided by posting the amendments on the CMBC website.

The major approved amendments include:

47Adding a provision for other classes of registrants who complete specified requirements
48Specifying the respective items required for registration
50Specifying the respective items required for registration and clarifying that a Conditional (return to practice) registrant must not be nominated for Board election
51Adding other classes of registrants as applicants for Temporary registration and specifying the respective items required for registration
52Adding other classes of registrants as applicants for Temporary (Limited Scope) registration, including allowing registered midwives from other Canadian jurisdictions to apply under AIT, specifying the respective items required for registration, increasing the duration for the initial registration period and the cumulative total period for renewal
54Adding other classes of registrants as applicants for Non-practising registration, including allowing registered midwives from other Canadian jurisdictions whose current registration is non-practising to apply under AIT, and specifying the respective items required for registration
60Specifying the requirements for a Non-practising registrant returning to practice as different practising classes of registration
61Adding to the list of applicants for reinstatement of registration a former registrant whose most recent previous registration was Non-practising and updating the section title
79Updating the privacy requirements to current legislation
80Updating the storage and retention of personal information to current legislation

The proposed amendments will be posted for three months as required. Any feedback on the proposed amendments should be sent to CMBC and/or to the Ministry of Health no later than October 20, 2018.
